Pre-Order Tree Farm Quilt Kits & Bundles! from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

Tree Farm is my newest fabric collection and it's coming soon.  This collection doesn't scream Christmas but sure does bring the holiday to life.

Tree Farm designed by Pam Buda ~ HeartspunQuilts.com
This quilt is called Tree Farm and is the main quilt featuring all of the fabrics in the collection.  Christmas trees are the focus of our Christmas holiday, and I wanted to create a quilt celebrating the tree.

The large blocks have a tree in the center, surrounded by a red wreath.  The block is 18 inches and is made from Half Square Triangles and connector ...

Pre-Order Strawberry Emery Quilt & Bundles!! from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

Emery quilt by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts
It seems like I've been waiting forever for this fabric to arrive, but it's almost here and I am beyond jazzed!!!  Introducing my new quilt Emery, made from my new Strawberry Emery fabric collection.

Do you wonder what a strawberry emery is?  Well....it's the little strawberry that usually hangs from a tomato pin cushion.  The emery is there to sharpen needles.

I collect strawberry emeries from the nineteenth century.  They were a prized sewing notion, made separately from the tomato, often made with silk and velvet, and sometimes ...

PRE ORDER Sturbridge Floral Petites Quilt Kit & Bundles!! from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new fabric collection, Sturbridge Floral Petites.

Last year I visited the archives of quilts and fabrics at The Old Sturbridge Village living history museum.  They have some of the most wonderful old, old fabrics in their archives.  I found this little bounty of small florals which I rarely ever see.  They had a bunch of them, and I fell in love.

Each one of these small floral prints has their own special attributes, and well, I just had to create a fabric line with them.  I couldn't chose just one floral ...

Pinks of the Past Pre-Order Opportunity from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

My brand new Pinks of the Past fabrics will soon be delivered to your LQS!!  We are expecting them mid-February or so.

My Love & Hope quilt has come back from being quilted and is now bound and ready for photography.  I had it home for just a day and took this photo.  It's a very cloudy day which has made the fabrics a bit dull.  They are just lovely, I promise!  The quilt is 75 x 89 and uses all of the pretty fabrics in the collection.

I was able to control the lighting a little better on the ...

Fabric Inspirations from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

When I'm on the hunt for antique fabric, you never know where you'll find inspiration.  I found this sweet, little bonnet sitting in a pile of junk.

It's very small, and like the tag says, likely made for a doll or teddy bear.

It has seen better days.  It has stains, holes, and is badly faded on one side, but I saw a lot of potential in this print.  It's simple, but the motif and the two different sets of dots offered a lot of possibilities!

Here is the same print in six different colorways!  I ...

Cheddar & Coal Quilt Kit PRE-ORDER!! from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

I'm so jazzed to introduce you to Cheddar & Coal....my newest collection for Marcus Fabrics!

There are nine cheddar prints.....
Eight assorted black prints.....

And seven assorted light prints.

I had a whole lotta fun designing quilts with this fabric.  Walnut Hollow (above) is the the only large quilt made with Cheddar & Coal.  It features two very similar star blocks, each made with Flying Geese and a Cat's Cradle unit.  The great thing about the blocks is that you can make the Cat's Cradle unit larger and trim to perfection!!  Who doesn't LOVE that?!!  The Tucker ...

Abigail's Sew Along ~ Part Five from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

Welcome to the last post in making our Abigail's Doll Quilt.  This is the fun and exciting part....where we assemble all of the parts we've made, and make the quilt top!

This is a very unusual little quilt to assemble.  I truly believe my Abigail was cut from a larger quilt, and the way it was cut, and the layout of the blocks and such, is exactly what I love about it.  It's very unique.  The making of the center may seem odd to you...and it is, but follow the directions in the pattern, and ...

Hands To Work Comes Home from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

Hands To Work Quilt by Pam Buda ~ Heartspun Quilts
I'm so very happy that my Hands To Work quilt is back home from being quilted.  My quilter and friend, Ronda, always does a superb job, and I am thrilled with how the quilt looks with its Baptist Fan quilting.  The perfect traditional quilt pattern for this quilt, and the one used on the antique, too!

This is a photo of the antique quilt that was my inspiration.

I had such fun playing with fabric combinations for each block....

....there are so many different ways you can make the block ...

Hands To Work Quilt Kit Pre-Order from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

Hands To Work Quilt ~ Farmer's Daughter Fabric Collection
Long, long ago, I saw this truly unique antique quilt and it really stuck with me.  I adore everything about this quilt, and knew I wanted to reproduce it, and a collection of fabrics to go with it.

The unusual pairing of reds, pinks, blacks, blues and gray prints against the Mourning print is so stunning.  The block, and the seemingly endless options with fabrics, only makes it all the better!

And so.....my Farmer's Daughter fabric collection came to be!

Since the Mourning print has such a huge role ...

Then a reveal of the quilt all finished.  Oh how I love it!  I loved making the blocks so much, I couldn't stop....so.....

It won't be too long now until my Primitive Traditions, Folk Art Stars and Primitive Plaids fabric collections arrive in quilt shops everywhere!  We've waited so long!

Primitive Traditions Quilt ~ Designed by Pam Buda
Primitive Traditions is my feature quilt for this collection.  It's a beauty with how the black fabrics offset the colors and make them just POP!

I'll bet you're saying it looks very difficult to piece.  WRONG!  The units in the blocks are made larger and trimmed down...honest!

For this block, there are Half Square Triangles (trimmed to size), Flying Geese ...

Primitive Traditions Quilt Collection from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

Introducing the new collection of quilt designs
featuring Primitive Traditions, Folk Art Stars and
Prairie Plaids fabrics!
Primitive Traditions ~ Designed by Pam Buda
This quilt is the collection namesake, Primitive Traditions.  I know it may look very hard, but in fact it won't be as hard as it looks.  Almost all of the units can be made larger and trimmed down.  It uses 2 Deb Tucker trimming rulers.  And, I will be making a technique video showing exactly how to use the rulers, and make these blocks!

I love the secondary, circular design the kite units create, and the ...

Quilt Archaeology ~ October Treat ~ Part Three from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

I love meeting like this...that we have a date every Friday.  These days, it's about the safest way to get together.  It's all very sad and frustrating, isn't it!  But....we sew to keep ourselves busy, in a happy place, and sane!  Let's get started on our next steps.

We begin by sewing our E and L strips together.  Take your time sewing strips.  Yes, they're easy but often the raw edges can slip from alignment causing them to be wider or narrower than they should be.  Sew slowly, watching to be sure the ...

Quilt Archaeology ~ October Treat ~ Part Two from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

Here we are, already on part two of our October Treat sew along.  I hope you found some useful tips from my last post about connector corners.  I'll bet you're all experts now!

This week will be super easy, peasy because we're making larger Flying Geese using the same method as last week.  So, you can put your skills to the test once again.

You'll use (8) H pieces and (4) A pieces to make (4) Flying Geese.  Be sure to measure them to check for accuracy.

Gather the small center star you made last week ...

October Treat ~ Quilt Archaeology Reveal! from Heartspun Quilts ~ Pam Buda

I'm so jazzed!!  Today is the day I can reveal my new Quilt Archaeology sew along project, called October Treat!

This sweet antique is the quilt (or quilt block) that inspired me.  It has a lot of wonderful elements to it and was fun to play with.  While this little gem is very versatile, it always spoke "Halloween" to me!
Quilt Archaeology ~ October Treat ~ Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts
I took a little creative license with this quilt as I added a small black star inside the larger black star.  The original antique only has one star.  If you ...
